New work: A bamboo scarf in purple and teal yarn, woven in a Swiss Twill pattern.
The Swiss Twill pattern is made up of small diamond-shapes that group together to make larger diamonds across the cloth. As I wove on this warp, the shimmering diamonds seem to shift up and down. This effect made my weaving job a bit more challenging, as I tried to track my place on the loom. But the struggle was worth it to create the intricate surface design on the finished scarf.
I love the way these two colors shiver against each-other. Photos never quite capture the vibration that the bright purple and deep teal combination creates. The bamboo yarn shines and falls in such a lovely way, and the combination of the color and texture makes me think of sunlight on water or cut glass.
